Alliance use of bot
« on: March 19, 2009, 11:20:33 am »
Was wondering, is it possible to have the following setup

Bot A, Bot B, Bot C, in 3 different guilds.
All 3 bots use the 1 database (has members of all guilds and all dkp already listed)
Bot A was created first and players already get their logon messages from that.
The purpose of Bot B would be to sit in guild B and when they type !commands in guild chat they get the same as if guild a types it.

I know I can set up 2 bots to cross chat between eachother, but this is basically so they can see the online list, aswell as get the guild chat msg everytime someone logs on.

i tried copying the entire bot folder over, going into conf and changing the bot name and the guild name
it logged in fine, but it went through and created whole new tables in the sql database.

what i really want it to do is just use the ones that area already there

basically
Guild A = 50-75 members
Guild B = 10-15 members

Guild A's bot has all members from both A & B, so we see when people from B logon (and as such they get our headlin and news)
however
When Guild A members logon, Guild B cannot see who is online, and because the bot can only be in 1 guild they can't just type !online in guild chat to see who is on, they have to send a tell to the bot.

What I wanted to do was create Bot B so that Guild B can see when Guild A members come online.
I will turn off the news and headline features (as we dont need 2x news and 2x headlines everytime we log.
We have disabled using the points from the bot for the moment as it has caused some issues.
as such we have done the same with the raid because they keep forgetting to send a tell to the bot to join the raid rather then doing it in guild chat.

I tried exporting the users list and then importing it to the table the new bot created, rebooted both bots, nothing.

is what im trying to accomplish even possible? or should i give up?

Simply let each bot create it's own tables, and then enable otherbots in the settings of online to share online information. The settings should be botB,botC for botA, and similar for the other 2 bots.

To see logons and logoffs you have to enable a setting for logon.

!settings online
!settings logon

This will show the information, it will not allow shared access to the bots among the guilds. Out of stock this would only possible with flexible security settings in AO. Those aren't really available in AoC as there is no XML data to rely on.
