checking bases, and not tower bases
« on: May 11, 2008, 03:59:17 pm »
Wanted to ask, before I started randomly changing thing that was gonna cause lots of headaches later...I've downloaded the full version of the manual install of php 5.2.6 so I would have all extensions. I have also downloaded the developer version of 0.5. I am currently running 6 bots, so want to minimize downtime. How is the best way to get the full version of php into the new release, and what would be the best way to impliment the changeover of the 4.3? Thanks...I could prolly hammer it out on my own, and make lots of mistakes, so figured I would ask first..

Easiest is you setup the new bebot modules as you want, and simply copy over your old Bot.conf and MySQL.conf files. Then start using the new files.
Just remember that 0.5 loads all modules, even those with an added _, the actual loading is right now controlled by the modules conf.

If you want to make absolutely sure you can go back to 0.4.x you'll have to make a backup of your mysql database. Some 0.5 modules got updated table schemes, so they aren't backward compatible.

To use your new PHP version you can either put PHP into a dedicated directory and put it into the path to call it, or simply copy the files into the bot base directory and use them from there. The php files themself shouldn't have any influence on BeBot, as long as it's 5.2+.

If you aren't using it yet, read up the wiki page for multiple bot setupts.

thanks...that is what I wanted to be sure of, as I know some of the newer modules are also using some php extensions that are only in the full version. Definately gonna have to do something with the multiple bot setup soon, getting ready to add a 7th (another relay to the relay bot...long story) and possibly an 8th....
