How to search with !items
« on: July 16, 2008, 07:28:33 am »
Hi guys, I've searched around to find proper example on what and how to search but don't see much documentation and the in-game help is simply, let me put it nice, not very helpful (maybe add examples to it?) :)

I've seen you admins post that it accepts e.g. "text here" as well as brute* and +this -that... so how do we search for only rings or only belts? Does it do that automatically filter that if one word of the search is any of the different types or maybe not? And secondly how do I search for items  between level 50-60 or above 69 etc.?

The item contains no information on types of items, what positions they have, what modifiers they have etc.

Currently there is no way to pull those informations out.

So the search is only on the title of the items.

Okay, how unfortunate, would have made the function so much more useful... I though I read that the level was indeed stored in the database but I might remember wrong on that I guess? Can't at least that be used to filter away tons of trash when searching?

Secondly; certain items I find what I would think is "duplicates" when i search, for instance my Guardian set called "Custodian's" have several items with the same name but different ID's and levels, for instance searching for the legs "Custodian's Tasset"

[Custodian's Tasset] lvl: 50
[Custodian's Tasset] lvl: 58

How can there be two of such an item? Some even have three or more... is this junk in the database, items tweaked and changed by FC over time and now double in the database with different stats or what's causing this?

Yes the levels are stored on the items.

The way the AoC item database has been made the different levels of the items are actually different items in the database. It is currently only the Alchemist Cache's I know of that uses interpolation in order to calculate the stats instead of having an entry for each level of the item.
So the game actually supports interpolation - but its hardly used.

I could probably do some smarter listing of the items with the same names though. I may look into that at some point.
