What BeBot Modules Should I Disable with AoC
« on: December 09, 2009, 10:11:33 pm »
We have not used BeBot for a while and just set her back up on one of our servers, seems being running good now on AoC. My question is what Modules are people running with the BeBot package and what ones are most of you disabling? Seems have a lot of modules and I am sure some are more targeted at AO, so we would like get these weeded out. One thing I do notice is that the bot seems hang when asking for !help from the bot owner, usually it only sends me 2 pages to click on, either 1 and 2 or 1 and 3, we are on Ironspine server and I have tried calling this early hours of the morning as well, seems a little faster, but still hangs a little. I think maybe to many modules are enabled?

Any suggestions just starting back into BeBot would be helpful, and maybe some feedback from other users on what to disable would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

Your help file might be exceeding the maximum size that can be transferred across the server. It could also be hitting the flood protection too. You might try changing the bot to send messages in smaller chunks or with a longer delay between responses, but probably the biggest thing you can do is disable modules you don't want to use. I think it's really personal preference which ones you want to disable. I don't find any of the raid modules to be that useful unless you do raiding only in guild, because people outside guild chat can't see any of the messages and AoC doesn't support private channels like AO did. I also got rid of the more trivial stuff like Chuck Norris quotes because I just don't want people spamming guild chat with that stuff.

if anything the issue with help is too large
not for the bot but ur client
and ur client crashes
the setting for the max size can be changed in your config file

Thanks for the Reply.

Yes i think this is what is surely happening "Flood Control" so we need tame it down a little, we have started for one by getting rid of the folder for AO, we just removed the folder all together, were not sure if this would be ok or not, or if we needed to just comment out each module, but it seemed work fine just removing it, now we need remove the modules we will not use in the general modules by commenting them out. What we have done so far getting rid the AO modules seemed help a little thus far.

Yes we do a lot of Raiding and yes bad part with our raiding is we have pug quite a few in sometimes, we are on Ironspine and are the main raiding guild, most other guilds dont raid much anymore as there numbers are far to low.

So anyone have a work around for this, maybe adding them as an Allie? Will this work so they could see the dice rolls and counters in raids?

Thanks for any input Guys..

We really don't have a problem with client crashes, we just having the bot basically get timed out, as if its trying to send to much at one time, Our bot is now running from its own dedicated "Decommissioned" email server here in our office, we have 5 servers here and we cut down the amount of servers needed and had an extra, so i donated the use of this one for the bot, the server was used to handling mail for around 5000 email addresses a day, average of around 50000+ messages a day.

But as i said as we have started to cut down on the numbers of modules this seems to help, we should also increase this delay as Recomended, we are looking into making this change now.

Thanks for input.

So your saying i need increase the blob size? It is now as below, we have not changed it, we changed the delay to double what it was "4444".

$max_blobsize = 8000;            // Maximum size of text blobs in byte. For AoC

Any suggestions as we dont want do do to much for AoC's chat server.

Thanks.
