I can't think of a particular reason why the bot wouldn't run on Windows 2000.
Can you explain what goes wrong and what you've tried to do?
Maybe we can help if we know a bit more.

A different route might be installing another OS on that box, is it doing anything else? If not you could put a linux OS on it and go that way.

As long as PHP and MySQL runs on Win2k, and I have no reason to suspect otherwise, BeBot runs on Win2k.

On a side note, since the database server does not need to be on the same machine, only PHP is required to work on the machine the bot is to run on.

there is a getaddrinfo metod that php 5 wants to call that does not show up until xp sevice pack 2, the only way to fix this is to include a couple of .h files, have no idea how to do that in the php. .h header files?? it shouldnt take long for you to get out there on the net and discover what i found.

as far as changing the os, i plan on it, but dropping linux on a box is a job for me (knowledge is limited). i dont like issues lik this kicking me in the arse, i like trying to figure out ways around it.

so, how do you get php 5 to work on win 2k, this be the question  ;D

Looks like it's a bug in PHP 5.3 that is not going to be fixed ( http://69.147.83.196/bug.php?id=47963 ) as it is marked as "Wont fix".

The only workaround to this would be to use PHP 5.2.x from what i can tell, of which the latest is 5.2.12

Just to be perfectly clear, there is nothing BeBot can do about this in either case, the problem is within PHP itself, and is only limited to Windows 2000 and older.

I honestly cannot blame PHP for dropping support for Windows 2000 seeing as it's official support by Microsoft has ended.

well as far as php 5.2, tried that and get an entirely different set of error lol

i do plan on turning the win 2k box into a linux box, im sure i will be naggin yall for advice on that as well, cause if i can make a bot server out of it i should be able to make any type of server out of it  :P

Well, it would help of course if you posted the errors you get with 5.2 ;)

As for installing linux, it really isn't that difficult.

I would recommend Ubuntu server as a starting point as it is fairly user friendly, and you can of course install Gnome/KDE along with a x server to get a GUI if you don't feel confortable on the command line.

it doesnt give any specific error cept for a box saying it is shutting down

and the only linux i have messed with is mandrake, what would be wrong with that?
