Centralized Item Database (17.7.1_EP1 Live)
« on: April 15, 2008, 08:53:55 pm »
Does anyone know if the item DB is still being maintained?  I have had a lot of questions regarding the new Dust Brigade items and their stats.

is there anyway we can figure out a quick fix for this.  I know vhab is on a different project and not updating anything anymore, so how do we get something for the bot for the items database.

This is one of the more critical features of any bot.  I honestly would prefer to have my own local dynamic copy that the bot runs from.  something that would be able to be updated like roster updates are.  But for now is there a way we can do a quick fix for the bots for they can run the item db locally until this comes to past?

Not sure if Vhab will be updating the DB any time soon, so I actually started up an old version of IGN and stripped out all features except the items function then get a rip of teh current database for the bot. Kind of sucks but my org was in the same boat.

I'm guessing that not everyone is having these issues since none of the development community has responded.

Is there anything we can do as a community to help Vhab update the DB?

We do have the same issues, Vhab's item db is version 17.7.1. I simply got no idea if Vhab is still supporting the db.

I have been debating on porting the old Items plugin to support bebot 4.3 and SVN. As for dumping the database, the AOMainframe tool seems to work as long as you are able to attach the debugger from Visual studio. Not sure how far I will get on this but it is one of the possibilities. I suppose also though the tool used to dump the database for IGN could be used too since it has no problem with the current DB problem is it is simply a text file with no real structure.

One of my main concerns here is cross-platform compatibillity.

The AODBResourceTool I found would not run on linux as it has hardcoded a backslash in the code that opens the filter. Also the window for managing this tool is broken in linux.

However I have not tried to use this as a command line tool and that might work if you get to specify the plugin directory in some way and do not need to rely on the buildt in (broken) path.
The only problem that can't be solved by adding another wrapper is having too many wrappers.

Any reason why it still isn't updated for 17.9?
