Hi im totally new with and stuff but I was wondering if its possible run bebot from a webhost that allowes you to run bots and where you have a shell account?
-
From the sounds of it, your host will allow this.
The key requirements are:
php compiled with sockets and mysql support
MySQL (does not have to be on the same host as the bot, but it helps for speed reasons)
Your allowed to run background processes on the shell.
-
so its possible. how much memory does bebot require to run the bot properly
-
Looks like the most any of my bots use is something over 8mb memory.
-
Memory usage depends a little on what modules you use, but between 10-15 megs appears to be the norm.
-
From my recent excursion working with bebot on a change OS from what I was using. Went from Redhat to Centos. installed php installed mysql updated After a few recompiles with php I noticed that php was not installing GMP .. So that would be something else you would want to check on.
mysql or some version of sql
php
bcmath
gmp
for some reason some flavors of php and *nix dont install gmp on a compile
-
do you need configure the DB yourself or does the bot do that automaticly?
-
Once you start the DB then the bot will do most of the rest of it for you . There is a post back a few about running bebot on linux .. the steps there about making the DB are excellent and very easy to unsderstand.
Once you make the main DB the the php modules will do the rest for you.
Bebot once it is installed expecially on a shell or a *nix box is very easy to maintain and run.
