Title: Quest players cant join bot
Post by: Yild on March 05, 2007, 09:44:13 pm
Hi, first post here :)

(maybe this was earlier mentioned but...)

I want to setup bot for my guild, and I have major problem with guests.

When quest (not org member [unknown player]) wants to join quest channel he recives:

To [Virle]: !invite
[Virle]: I only listen to members of this bot.

how unknown players can join our bot ? how to disable this ?

My english is poor ;)

I do not think I understand what your problem is, or what you are trying to do. So here are just some explainations about the commands...

!guest puts someone on the guestlist. People on the guestlist can do !join on the bot to get into the guestchannel themselves. If people from org do !invite on a person, he can join guestchannel as well, but he cannot enter it by himself. If you kick him, he needs another invite to get back in - !join will not work for him.
Additionally, some modules require people to be on the guestlist. I may be wrong, but I think to join a raffle, you have to be a guest. Having been invited with !invite is not enough.

Edit: and it is !guest, not !quest. G, not Q.

yes i know how it works.

Example:

My org in recruitment guide has statement like this:

/tell guildbotname !join - to join our bot

Let say that there is an annonymous player that wants to join our org bot. how we can use !guest if we DONT know his name (at this stage)?! The only available option for this annonymous user is to contact with someone that is org member (and is able to use !guest/!invite). And here is the problem he need to conntact first with org member.

Don't think there is a way for an anonymous person to join the bot, someone from the org has to do a !guest or !invite...unless there is a module that will allow this  :-\

This is intentional. Most orgs do not want just anyone be able to join their guestchannel. Would suck if during, say, a towerwar, the opposing side could just enter your bot and spam your orgchat, or the raidchat.

Your recruitment guide is plain wrong for an out-of-the-box bebot.

There is a modification somewhere that allows this, I think. I heard about this before at least. This would mean using a custom module, or getting your hands dirty and code PHP, tho.

Just check out [tell2] function in module and remove requirements of being guest or member.
