Setting up the bot
« on: July 21, 2008, 01:30:50 pm »
Hello all.

I might be going blind, but i cant see anywhere how to set bot up for AOC

I edited the Bot.conf file but its asking for server name, and i searched to see what to put in here but cant seem to work it out, im on EU-Dagon Server.

The readme in the bot is for ao so its  no help at all.

Is there a guide somewhere?

If you are on Dagon, use "Dagon" as servername. :)

The guild name is case sensitive yes.

There is no way for the bot to get the current members for the guild like in AO. So you either have to manually add people with the !member add command. Or you ask them to speak in the guildchat and it will automatically add people.

it prob ignored you because you are OWNER
the module works by checking if the user talking has member access, which u have better
should work ok for every 1 else
but in these cases u can add your self with !member add <name>

Hmmmmm.

I get similar issues. Does this extend to superadmins as well? I added my guild leaders as superadmins and they don't show up. Also not everyone gets auto added even if they speak, why is this? I can add them manually, sure but it's not very elegant.

Also when I do a !member add <name> <level> the level part of it always gives and error unless I leave it out and people get added as guest. Any  ideas?

yes any user level that is Member or better will be ignored so MEMBER, LEADER, ADMIN, SUPERADMIN and OWNER

To add as MEMBER:
    !member add <name>
To add as GUEST
    !guest add <name>

I'm having trouble getting the bot working.. Set up my conf files (I think) correctly.. When I start it I just get a looping message..

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/fto/bebot/bebot-aoc-read-only/Main.php on line 205

I had the same error, but foud the solution..   8)

the thing is that even though i had the right version of php5 at my server it also had php4 .. and it automatic chose the php4 .. so i uninstalled php4 and all of its components..

then it worked ;)
