Title: Requesting: Guild Bank Items
Post by: durroch on July 20, 2008, 01:20:37 am
Greetings,

My resources officers are wondering if someone (maybe me if I can figure this out but I'm not sure I can) could make a module that would keep track of the guild owned items (weapons, armor, pots) so someone could just tell the bot !guilditems and it would show the list and they could click on one and the bot would /tell them the ref and they could click on it to see the stats.  Basically just like the !items command.  And now since the bot can tell the difference between the different colors (blues, purples, etc.) it could list them in those categories as well.

If someone knows how to do this but doesn't have the time maybe they could point me in the right direction?  I think this module could be of a lot of use to a lot of guilds :).

Regards,
Durroch

Building this myself now that I understand how to build modules heh.  Have about a third of it done for anyone else that's interested.

I'm interested for sure, I presume its for everything but resources right? If resources is included it would be great if it would not be duplicate work to keep updated the City Management module...

No, it's not for resources.  It's only for items like weapons, armor, potions, gems and tradeskill items.  There will also be sub-categories for weapons and armor as well, like 2hb or Cloth.

Sounds good, let us know when you have one to share with the community, I'll minimum have a go in our guild to check the response and to see how useful it can be :)

I'm 99% done.  Just waiting on my resources officer give me some input for a feature of the bot.  After it's implemented I'll have it up on the forums :).

I had an idea similar to this, but I had a few features that I was looking for. First off, every item would have an official owner. So for example, any player can add an item to the guild bank. By adding it, you are the owner and it is now listed as up for the taking. When another player searches through the guild bank, they can request the item in the bank, which will then send a notice to the owner. The players then take the responsibility in passing the item around, whether through mail or trade. Owners should have commands to be able to call in on their items and everyone should be able to see who is in possession of any items that had been contributed to the guild bank.

The bonus to this is keeping all these extra items out of the guild bank which always seems to be packed full of city building materials.

Nifty concept :) But I'm not sure I could incorporate this into what I've done.  Currently in our guild I have Resource Officers that takes care of everything the guild owns.  One person has an extra character that holds all the items.  So if someone sees an item they want on the list they can request it from her and she mails it out or trades it to them.
