Title: Changing IP address on BeBot server. Need help
Post by: MrHaugen on August 27, 2011, 08:23:44 pm
Hello

I'm doing some server changes, and I need to change the address of my Bebot server. There is some steps I've managed to forget though.

I've changed the address in Network setting, and updated the DNS records on my domain controller. I've updated the IP address in MySQL.conf file in the Bebot\Conf folder.

When bebot is starting I get an error message, telling me that bebot could not access MySQL database with user and password and Machine name/IP.

I'm not used to use command line to do anything here, and I'm a total newbie on MySQL. Is there some settings in MySQL I have to change for it to accept the connection on this new address?

Could someone push me in the right direction please? I would really appreciate it.

I believe it is good to leave IP Host as "localhost", most of the times it is the right way.

Can't help you more, wait for the pro's :)

If you are hosting the database on the same server as the bot itself use:
ip: 127.0.0.1
It's the same as localhost but localhost is set to point to 127.0.0.1 (as long as it is not changed.

I know about localhost, 127.0.0.1 and what not. Thanks for the link. The bot and database is on the same server, so I'll try to log in and change the address there to localhost. Perhaps I've been stupid and changed this to something else in the past.
