Bebot 6.3 installation problems
« on: July 02, 2009, 11:27:00 pm »
Hey all.

I'm having troubble getting bebot to work as a guildbot. Here is where it hangs in the initial startup procedure:

Militarygrid [SETTINGS] [LOAD]  Loaded settings from database.
Militarygrid [SETTINGS] [LOAD]  Loaded settings from database.
Militarygrid [ROSTER]   [UPDATE]        Starting roster update
Militarygrid [SETTINGS] [SAVED] LastRosterUpdate for module members set to 12465
69450 as datatype int
Militarygrid [ROSTER]   [UPDATE]        Roster update complete. Added 0 members
and removed 0 of which 0 was rerolled.
Militarygrid [SETTINGS] [Created]       Created Pgname for module Relay with val
ue of  Guest
Militarygrid [SETTINGS] [Created]       Created Gcname for module Relay with val
ue of
Militarygrid [TELL]     [INC]   Surge: !test
Militarygrid [TELL]     [OUT]   -> Surge: I only listen to members of this bot.

First off it finds 0 members in the rooster update..which seems wrong to me. Secondly it doesn't read names correctly in the command window atleast..it only gets "Surge" from Gridsurge. Any ideas what might be wrong? I'm pretty sure I configured it correctly..

Please download and replace your main/10_roster.php file with the following one which contains some additional information output and post the log from it. Also please let us know which OS you are running on.

The new code should output debug info allowing us to see what happens when an update is attempted. Normally i would suggest issuing !rosterupdate to force it, but the second issue doesnt make any sense.

The only way the bot should detect your name wrong is if the chatserver passes it along as wrong.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Are you listed as owner in the config file?

Maybe I don't have PHP configured correctly..could someone e-mail me a working version of the bot with PHP in the bot directory? My e-mail is [email protected] or [email protected].

This is what happened when I ran that new rooster PHP script you told me to download:

Militarygrid [2009-07-06 13:22:13]   [BUDDY]   [BUDDY-ADD]   Surge
Militarygrid [2009-07-06 13:22:13]   [SETTINGS]   [SAVED]   LastRosterUpdate for module members set to 1246886533 as datatype int
Militarygrid [2009-07-06 13:22:13]   [ROSTER]   [UPDATE]   Roster update complete.
Read error: EOF
Militarygrid [2009-07-06 13:22:13]   [CONN]   [ERROR]   Bot has disconnected. Reconnecting in 6 seconds.
The bot is restarting.

Does that add or remove from the confusion?

Another malfunction for my bot is when someone talks in org chat the bots tries to add him/her to the buddy list..but crashes and restarts. Do you have to set some setting to make the bot work for AO?

One step at a time.

First, i need to know what happens in the console when someone tries to access the bot. Does it not recognize you properly or is it everyone?

Second, you say the bot crashes, but that doesnt help us help you at all. We need to know the errors that show up when the crash occurs.

Third, the debug output does not help since the last update happened under 6 hours ago as the output indicates. Either wipe the database contents and start fresh or if the bot will recognize you as the owner, issue a !rosterupdate command.

I would also reccomend upgrading PHP to 5.3.0

A roster update or a fresh database won't do any difference..this is what happens when it runs the roster update:

13:22:13]   [SETTINGS]   [SAVED]   LastRosterUpdate for module members set to 1246886533 as datatype int
Militarygrid [2009-07-06 13:22:13]   [ROSTER]   [UPDATE]   Roster update complete.
Read error: EOF

It missreads my char name bigtime..Gridsurge becomes Surge both in the console, logfile, database, and news items etc..it doesn't have a problem with "Jeul" or "Windguaerd"..do I have a hardcoded punishment in the bot code? ^^

It also crashes when I do !whois lookups..maybe it's something with the connection to the funcom database. Gonna post the logs tomorrow when I get a hold of them.

That output does not contain the debugging info in the updated file. I need to see that debug output on a roster update. Also the messages indicate that the roster update is successful. Just to illustrate, this is what it will look like:
Code: [Select]
Brokenbot [ROSTER]      [UPDATE]        Starting roster update for guild id: 9234443 on RK1
Brokenbot [ROSTER]      [UPDATE]        XML for the Clan guild Recipe for disaster obtained
Brokenbot [ROSTER]      [UPDATE]        XML for the Clan guild Recipe for disaster contained 5 member entries
Brokenbot [SETTINGS]    [SAVED] LastRosterUpdate for module members set to 1246889012 as datatype int
Brokenbot [ROSTER]      [UPDATE]        Roster update complete.

You can also try enabling error logging in your php.ini file, E_ALL will most likely produce a lot of unrelated notices and warnings, but might give more information.

I can assure you that you do not have hardcoded punishment in the code :P But i find it very hard to understand. The bot is only showing what the Funcom chatservers is telling it basically, as such it doesnt make any sense.

I would also suggest taking a look at the php timeout settings in php.ini and see if they need to be raised, and if you have a firewall or router that resets "idle" connections after x seconds you might need to check to see if that is causing the connection to be reset while the bot is busy running updates or looking up data from servers.

Im going to suggest you start a new topic wenetman and include the full output of your console from start to finish. The OP is running the bot on Anarchy Online and has a fairly unique and never seen before issue with AO.

I'm pretty sure it is a firewall issue on my ISP:s side..going to try and get someone else to host it..and seeif that works better.

Im not so convinced. While the issue is odd, why would a firewall issue manifest itself first and foremost by filtering out the word Grid?

I dunno..the problem is that the bot can't find the user-id's when it tries to contact the funcom database..that's why it crashes when it does addbuddy on new people in org-chat and that's why it finds 0 people in the rooster update..tcan't see anything else but a firewall messing that up..

user id's are looked up from the chatserver which the bot has to be connected to in order to even receive your tells, as such that is very unlikely to be a firewall issue. The debug information should have provided more information, but that requires the roster update to actually run, and that can be forced by issuing the !rosterupdate command.

Just for the record
Code: [Select]
Militarygrid [ROSTER]   [UPDATE]        Roster update complete. Added 0 members
and removed 0 of which 0 was rerolled.
Does not mean it was unable to find 0 people, it means it was unable to find 0 NEW people. It does however mean that it WAS able to connect to the People of Rubi Ka site and was able to read the guild XML with no detectable errors. But beyond that we need the debug output i requested.

As for the crashes you mentioned on !whois and !addbuddy i honestly cannot help you with unless you start providing some error messages. In the event the issue is with the bot code and not on your side, i would really like to resolve them.

This error has been found and will be fixed for 0.6.4.

To make your bot work properly, simply change your $dimension from "Atlantean" to "1"
