Title: Guides module - feedback plx ;p
Post by: jjones666 on February 05, 2007, 01:51:10 am
I took this module (http://aodevs.com/index.php?topic=89.msg685;topicseen#msg685) for Budabot, shamelessly pulled all of the information from it and created some form of a front end for Bebot, which was ripped from Glara's APFguide code.

All of the guides seem to work (careful, there is some RP stuff in there ^-^), I corrected as many of the links as I could to work in Bebot, it needs a good overhaul and tidy up still and to be "prettified".

Worth to continue and fix up, or doesn't interest people?

ZIP file (http://www.jjones.co.uk/files/guides.zip).

Make sure to keep the directory structure intact, ie. PHP in modules and TXT in txt directories.

Isn't this what the info module was made for? At least thats what I use it for and I have a collection of guides i've put in my info database which my org uses all the time. There's probably some more in this which I might use but not sure there's a need for another one. WIthout actually looking at it in detail, does it do anything other than show a blob of text for the guide?

I dislike the fact that you have to modify the module everytime you add a guide. A sql version would be better imho

I WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS SCRIPT IN ANY WAY
IF YOU CAN'T GET IT TO WORK, DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT IT

I never fully tested it, so I have no idea what kind of bugs there is.

guides.rar is the web interface, look at the guides I included for syntax for links, images etc...
The guides haven't really been updated, and some are for that reason, not correct.. use it at your own risk.

Use IE or Firefox for the web interface, it wont work correctly with opera (at least not when I made it, might work now, don't know).

only problem about that editor is that it automatically puts the " tags in when doing <font color= and that makes it all look nasty and black. a simpler editor would do the trick though i think
